Run For Your Life - Eugene
Run For Your Life is a themed community 5K organized by ShelterCare at the Alton Baker race course in Eugene, Oregon, with proceeds benefiting ShelterCare, a local nonprofit that provides housing and behavioral health services for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness. The event uses a fully paved course and features more than 100 volunteer zombies located along the route; zombies will not touch participants and some makeup may be intense for young children. Dogs are not allowed except for service dogs.
The race is timed with a chip attached to the bib; chips record start and finish and must be returned so times can be printed and posted by the timing provider. Course wayfinding includes neon yellow tape arrows on the pavement, directional signs, and race marshals with cowbells. Runners are asked to line up toward the front of the start area while strollers and mobility devices are asked to line up toward the back.
Packet pickup will be available virtually, with a limited number of paper packets offered on race day; additional packet details will be announced in August. Race shirts have a design announced in summer 2026 and shirts from current and previous years will be available for purchase at the event while supplies last. On-site activities include free face painting, a stretching session led by Vista Counseling and Wellness Center, a flash mob performance by Thrill the World Eugene, and sponsor vendor booths. There is no bag check; attendees are advised to leave belongings secured in vehicles or with companions. Day-of registration is accepted and the event accepts card, cash, and Venmo.
