Run for the Young Marathon
The Run for the Young Marathon is an annual community fundraiser held in Lilydale, Victoria. Organized by the Bridge Builders Youth Charity, the event directs all proceeds toward supporting local youth programs. The 13th edition of the event takes place on Sunday, 29th November 2026.
The event features various distances to accommodate different levels of participation:
- 42.2 km Marathon
- 21.1 km Half Marathon
- 10 km Run
- 5 km Run
- 2.5 km Kids Run
The start line is located at Mount Lilydale Mercy College. A significant portion of the course utilizes the Warburton Trail. As part of a commitment to environmental sustainability, the event operates as a plastic-free race. Aid stations do not provide plastic cups; instead, water and hydration products are accessible via push-button drums. Participants are encouraged to bring their own reusable containers or collapsible cups to the event.
Training programs are available for the 5 km and 10 km categories. The marathon category also includes a specific "Marathon Newbie" division. The event attracts an international field, with past participants representing countries such as Australia, Kenya, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
