Event overview
The Run for the Trees: Happy Little 5k is a live 5k event on April 18, 2026 at Sandy Point State Park in Annapolis, MD (1100 E College Pkwy; GPS 39.016926, -76.398632). The live race is an extension of the national Bob Ross Happy Little Run for the Trees virtual 5K. A virtual race option is also offered. Points from the race count toward the Year-Long 5k & Back of the Pack Series and the Spring Series.
What participants receive
Participants receive a finisher’s medal, a technical (Drifit) event shirt, a commemorative bib number and a sticker. The event is chip timed. Registration for the 5k is listed at $52. Bishop’s Events promo or discount codes cannot be used to register for this event.
Facilities, services and race operations
Packet pickup is available at the event. There will be no race day registration. One water station is located along the 5k course at approximately mile 1.55; Gatorade will be available at some water stations. Restrooms are onsite in the park. Live results will be posted on Athlinks, and final results with series points will be posted to the organizer’s website the Monday after the race. Photos taken by staff will be posted by the Tuesday after the event.
Awards, charity and other notes
Top 3 men and women overall receive awards; 1st and 2nd place awards are given in age groups 19&Under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. Overall top 3 finishers are not eligible for age-group awards. The event supports projects that improve forest health, tree plantings and related stewardship in a Maryland state forest or park.
