Run for the Red 5K 10K
The Run for the Red is a community sports event held in Norman Park, Georgia, organized to support the Norman Park Volunteer Fire Department. The proceeds from the event are directed toward the acquisition of a new brush and rescue truck, a specialized vehicle used for fighting fires in rural and off-road environments. The event features several distance options for participants:
- 1 mile
- 5 km
- 10 km
The 10 km course consists of two loops of the 5 km route. All participants are professionally chip-timed on measured courses. A specific "Challenge" category is available for those who complete both the 1 mile and either the 5 km or 10 km distances; these times are combined to determine overall winners in this category.
The races conclude at the Fire Station located at 160 E Broad St. Awards are presented to the top male and female finishers overall, as well as to winners in age groups ranging from 9 and under to 70 and over. Those registered by the mid-May deadline receive a commemorative event shirt. For those unable to attend in person, a virtual participation option is provided, allowing runners to submit their times remotely. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
