Run for the Pies
Run for the Pies is a running event in Jacksonville with two 5K races that start and finish on Monroe Street near Hemming Park.
- 5K Championship race
- 5K Open race
The event provides technical moisture wicking tank tops to entrants and custom designed medals to all finishers in the Open race. Goodie bags include Mini Moon Pies and the event features a Mini Moon Pie eating contest. A post race Beerfest includes free beer.
The Championship 5K requires recent qualifying performances for entry and uses a four loop course. Cash prizes are offered to the top three overall male and female finishers in the Championship race. There is an Equalizer Bonus and the Championship women start with a two minute head start. Additional performance prizes include awards for fast finishers and running shoes for select top finishers in the Championship race.
The Open 5K is open to runners and walkers who are not in the Championship race. Open race awards include custom running hats for men under 22:00 and women under 26:00 at the finish and age group awards across youth to 80 and over categories.
Run for the Pies forms part of the Miller Summer Race Series and is the final event of the Jacksonville Grand Prix. Series prize money is awarded across the three race series. Funds raised support high school cross country and track programs and summer camp scholarships in Duval County, and the organizing club provides funding for local running trails. The event is timed with the Race Result Timing System and finishing times require crossing the timing mats to appear in results. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
