Run for the Pies

Run for the Pies is a community 5K event in Jacksonville and the final event of the 2025-2026 Jacksonville Grand Prix with double points. The event includes two separate races and offers race apparel, finisher awards, and post-race activities.

  • Championship 5K with entry standard
  • Open 5K for all other runners and walkers

The event provides moisture wicking tank tops to entrants and large custom designed medals to all finishers. Mini Moon Pies are included in race goodie bags and there is a Mini Moon Pie eating contest. A post-race Beerfest offers complimentary beer. Prize money is available in the Championship 5K.

Championship entry requires a recent qualifying 5K time under 17:00 for men and 20:00 for women. Running shoes are awarded to men who break 16:00 and women who break 18:30 in the Championship race. The Championship course uses four loops and is suitable for spectating. Cash prizes for the Championship top three overall are 1st $250, 2nd $150, and 3rd $100. There is an Equalizer Bonus of $100 and Championship women receive a two minute head start.

The Open 5K awards custom hats to men under 22:00 and women under 28:00 gun time and age group awards for top three finishers in standard age brackets. Entry fees vary by date and include a technical tank top; a $5 discount applies automatically for ages 17 and under and 65 and older. Packet pickup is scheduled the Thursday and Friday before the race at local 1st Place Sports stores. The race is timed with the Race Result Timing System and finishers must cross the timing mats to be included in results.

Funds raised support Duval County high school cross country and track programs, a summer camp scholarship program, and local running trail projects including the Aterro Park 3 mile running trail in Mandarin. The Miller Summer Race Series links this event with two others and awards overall series prizes of 1st $500, 2nd $300, and 3rd $200, with series awards presented at the Summer Beach Run.
