Run For The Paws
Run For The Paws is a fundraising running event held in Wellington, Kansas. The proceedings from the event support the Wellington Humane Society, a non-profit no-kill shelter serving Sumner County. The funds are used to provide food and medical care for animals awaiting permanent homes.
Participants can choose from the following event options:
- 5k
- 1 mile
- 5k and 1 mile combined
The course features a variety of surfaces, including a mix of road, gravel, and sidewalk. For those participating in the 5k, one aid station is located at the halfway point of the route. Post-race refreshments are provided to participants of both distances.
All participants receive finisher medals, and trophies are awarded to the top male and top female finishers in the 5k category. T-shirts are guaranteed for those who pre-register by the specified May deadline. Packet pickup is available at the Wellington Humane Society on the Thursday and Friday prior to the event, as well as on the morning of the races.
Dogs are permitted to participate in the event. Owners must ensure that their dogs are non-aggressive, leashed at all times, and up to date on all required vaccinations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
