Run For The Paws - Wellington
Run For The Paws is a fundraising run held at the Wellington Humane Society, 203 W Hillside, Wellington, KS 67152. The event raises funds for the Wellington Humane Society, a 501(c) nonprofit that serves Sumner County, Kansas. The shelter is a no kill facility that opened to the public in December 2019. It receives no city or county funding and relies on donations to care for animals.
The event offers multiple course options:
- 5k (3.1 miles)
- 1 mile
- Combined 5k and 1 mile (4.1 miles)
The course surface is a mix of road, gravel, and sidewalk. T shirts are guaranteed for those who pre register by 12:00pm on May 15. Packets can be picked up at the Wellington Humane Society on the two days prior to the event from 3:00pm to 7:00pm, or on race day beginning at 6:30am. All participants receive finisher medals and trophies are awarded to the top male and top female in the 5k. Post race refreshments are provided for both races. The 5k includes one aid station located at the halfway point. Dogs may join participants if they are up to date on vaccinations, non aggressive, and leashed at all times.
