Run for the Paws 5K - Dewey Beach (18th edition)
The event is a community running and walking event at the Dewey Beach Lions Club, 115 McKinley St, Dewey Beach, DE. Proceeds benefit Humane Animal Partners, an organization that provides shelter, adoption, spay/neuter services, and low-cost wellness care.

- 5k Run : 3.1 miles
- 5k Walk : 3.1 miles, dogs allowed in the walk
- 1 mile Dog Walk : 1 mile, dogs allowed
The 5k course is USATF certified at 3.11 miles and follows a flat route through the Seabreeze Development of Dewey Beach. Timing will use the Chronotrack B Chip system. Packet pickup is at the Dewey Lions Club on Dagsworthy Street on Friday, July 31 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm; parking passes will be distributed at packet pickup and on-site parking hours are extended to 11:00 am.
Registration has tiered fees: early registration at $30 through July 19, pre-registration at $35 July 20–31, and a race-day option at a higher fee. Participants registered by Monday of race week are guaranteed a t-shirt and may secure a beach towel. Registration is offered online and by mail.
Amenities include custom beach towels, wooden age-group awards, post-race refreshments, a post-race gathering with alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and concessions, and a raffle with proceeds benefiting Humane Animal Partners. Awards are given to overall and masters winners and to top finishers in multiple age groups; the 5k Walk awards the top five men and top five women.
