Run For The Animals 5K Fundraiser
Run For The Animals is a community 5K fundraiser held at the Cohanzick Zoo in Bridgeton, New Jersey on October 11, 2026. The course starts and finishes at the zoo parking area and uses paths along the zoo perimeter. Parking is provided at Bridgeton High School with a short walk from a side entrance to the zoo. Bathrooms will be available at the zoo and at the splash pad. Mayor Aitken Drive will be closed to traffic for the duration of the event.
Packet pick up is available race morning at the starting line in the zoo parking lot. Race shirts are offered free to participants who register before September 12, 2026; after that date shirts are distributed on a first come, first served basis. Leashed, friendly dogs may join participants on the race path but are not permitted inside the zoo grounds; dogs may be walked along the exterior perimeter and race path.
Awards will be presented to the top three female and top three male finishers, and for the first time this year awards will also be given to the top three finishers in the 17-and-under age group. The event is held rain or shine. The fundraiser supports the Cohanzick Zoo, a small public zoo in operation since 1934 that houses nearly 100 animals representing more than 45 species within the city park.
