Run For Rangers
Run For Rangers is a multi-day running event held in Dahlonega, Georgia, on Veterans Day weekend at Hancock Park and Camp Merrill. The weekend includes both shorter road races at Hancock Park and a half marathon on service and forestry roads near the Appalachian Trail that starts and finishes on the airfield at Camp Merrill. The half marathon course is almost entirely off-pavement on service roads and includes two significant hills. Saturday features additional downtown Dahlonega activities including a Veterans Day parade, a kids play area, and an all day music festival with food and beverage.
Distances and combined race options include:
- 5K - 3.1 miles
- 10K - 6.2 miles
- Half Marathon - 13.1 miles
- Mountain Challenge 5K plus Half Marathon - 16.2 miles total
- Mountain Challenge 10K plus Half Marathon - 19.3 miles total
- Ranger Challenge Relay (two person teams, Army Rangers only) - 6.55 miles per team segment
- Ranger-only divisions for the 10K and half marathon
Awards are given by overall and masters plus age group placings, with top overall male and female recognized by a custom Ranger plaque. Parking is described as abundant.
