Event Overview
The second annual Run for Hope! Walk in Unity is an interfaith and multicultural event held at Towne Lake in McKinney, Texas. This community gathering brings together more than 10 faith communities, local leaders, and nonprofit partners. The event serves as a fundraiser to support the Collin County NeighborHub at McKinney, which provides assistance with food, health, education, and rent for local residents.
Course and Distances
The event takes place at Towne Lake, with courses starting and ending on the north side of the lake. Participants can choose between two primary distances:
- 5K Run: A chip-timed 3.1-mile race open to all ages and fitness levels.
- 1 Mile Walk: An untimed 1-mile multicultural and interfaith Unity Walk around the scenic lake.
Activities and Amenities
The venue at McKinney Towne Lake hosts a variety of activities and services during the event. Participants and visitors have access to food trucks and a live band. Family-oriented activities include balloon making, cotton candy, a photo booth, and various games. Registration for the 5K run and the paid 1-mile walk includes an event t-shirt. A free registration option is available for the 1-mile walk, which does not include a shirt. All registration includes access to the activities and games located at the start and finish area.
