Event Overview
The Run For Her Life is an annual event held in Newton, Iowa, now in its sixth year. Organized by the Phoenix Phase Initiative, a non-profit organization based in Iowa, the event supports women transitioning out of sexual trafficking by providing access to counseling and job skills training. The event offers both in-person and virtual participation options to accommodate different preferences.
The in-person festivities take place at 403 W 4th St N and feature several amenities for participants. Attendees can expect live music during the event. Participants receive one beverage, with a choice between a beer from Gezellig Brewing Company or a craft soda. A food truck is also present on-site. The course remains open to the public; however, volunteers and police officers manage traffic at major intersections to assist those on the route.
Distances and Formats
Participants can choose from various distances and formats:
- Half-Marathon (13.1 Miles) available as an in-person or virtual run/walk.
- 5K available as an in-person or virtual run/walk.
- Kid Fun Run (0.4 Miles) for younger participants.
For those choosing the virtual format, the activity can be completed at any time between April 25 and May 25. Virtual participants receive a medal, shirt, and bag without the requirement to submit a confirmation of their run.
All registered participants are provided with an event shirt. Those who register by April 6, 2026, are guaranteed to have their shirt available on the day of the event. For registration after this date, shirts are produced and distributed following the race day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
