Prairie Burn 100
The Prairie Burn 100 is an annual gravel bike ride and community festival held in Grinnell, Iowa the first weekend of June. In 2026 the main event is scheduled for June 6. The event combines gravel cycling with community activities and fundraising.
Distances offered include:
- 25 km gravel route
- 50 km gravel route
- 100 km gravel route
- 5K fun run
- 3K fun run
The fun runs follow routes through the Grinnell community and return to the event area, which includes a beer garden, live music, and food trucks. The event is chip timed and offers competitive options, while also accommodating noncompetitive participation. Proceeds from the Prairie Burn 100 benefit Imagine Grinnell, a nonprofit organization that supports a healthy and sustainable Grinnell community.
The Prairie Burn organization also hosts year-round community rides in Grinnell. Tuesday rides cover about 20 to 25 miles and run year-round. Thursday rides cover about 10 to 15 miles and take place from April through October. Riders of different ages and abilities participate, and gravel bikes are available through the local bike shop for reservation. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
