Run for Freedom 5K & Fun Run
The event includes a timed 5K and a free 1-mile fun run for children age 9 and under. Both events take place at Odell Weeks Activity Center (Virginia Acres Park) in Aiken, South Carolina. The 5K course runs on paved neighborhood streets behind the park and is described as mostly flat. A water station is located at the 1.5 mile mark. Volunteers and the Department of Public Safety are stationed along the course and at intersections.
Registration details for the 5K include an early-bird fee of $38 through 10/4/26, rising to $43 afterward. Early-bird registrants are guaranteed a race t-shirt. The 1-mile fun run is free; registering by the early-bird date qualifies participants to receive a participation t-shirt. Snacks, water, music, and games are available for participants and spectators at no charge.
Event rules note that strollers, wheelchairs, and friendly pets are welcome but should line up at the back of the starting area. Bicycles and skates are not permitted. Awards for the 5K include 1st place prizes and 2nd-3rd place ribbons in age categories for men and women, plus overall prizes for top finishers. A team fundraising prize is awarded to the team that raises the most money for the organizer. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
