East Lake 5K and Fun Run
The Run for East Lake 5K & Fun Run is an athletic event held in the East Lake community of Atlanta. The race starts and finishes at the Charles R. Drew Charter School Junior and Senior Academy. The course traverses the local neighborhood, passing through the Villages of East Lake, the East Lake Family YMCA, and the Charlie Yates Golf Course.
A notable feature of the route is the opportunity to run through the back nine holes of the historic East Lake Golf Club, which serves as the venue for the TOUR Championship.
There are two primary distances available for participants:
- 5K
- 400m Fun Run
The 400m Fun Run consists of a single lap around the track located in front of the Charles R. Drew Charter School. This shorter distance is open to participants of all ages.
The event is hosted by the East Lake Foundation, an organization established in 1995 that focuses on community revitalization. The foundation supports various initiatives including mixed-income housing, educational opportunities from early childhood through college, and community wellness programs such as career readiness and financial literacy.
