The event began in 2009 with an initial fundraising goal of $5,000 and, through sixteen years, has donated nearly $600,000.

The event benefits three organizations: Team Heart & Sole, DSACO, and 4 Paws for Ability. Team Heart & Sole provides inclusive opportunities for people with disabilities, their families, and friends to participate in endurance racing events across Ohio and focuses on building relationships through teamwork. DSACO supports families, promotes community, and encourages lifetime opportunities for people with Down syndrome. 4 Paws for Ability breeds, trains, and places task-trained service dogs with children and veterans to support greater independence.
Several race formats are offered, including dedicated kids races and team participation under the Team Heart & Sole program. Registration is available for both in-person and virtual entries and fees vary by event type. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
