About the race
Run for Cake is held at Ferry Meadows in Nene Park and is in its fifth year at this venue. The event is organised by Zig Zag Running and takes place around the park's lakes and river using traffic-free park paths. The event uses a timed lap format with participants completing as many 5.3 km loops as they can inside their chosen time limit. One lap equals a 5k and the organisers allow an extra lap if a lap is started before the event cut-off.
The course is a multi-terrain 5.3 km loop on largely sealed or tarmac paths with some softer trail and grass sections, about 82% sealed and 18% trail, with 17 m of total climb. Race HQ is at the Lakeside Centre on the watersports side of the park. The base camp is located at the start and lap point and includes a water and aid station on every lap. Registration and bib collection are at the Lakeside Centre; Zig Zag gazebos are placed near the car park.
Parking at the park is chargeable. The event is cupless so participants should bring their own bottles or cups for refilling. A GPX file for the course is available from the course tab.
