Event Overview
Run for Cake returns for its fifth year at Ferry Meadows, a large country park located within Nene Park, less than three miles from Peterborough city centre. The event follows a timed format where participants can complete as many laps as they choose within a four or six-hour window. The course consists of a 5.3 km lap through forest areas, utilizing a multi-terrain mix of gravel footpaths and grass sections.
Participants have the flexibility to rest between laps or continue running to reach specific milestones. The event structure allows for various distances, with established lap counts for specific goals:
- 5 km (1 lap)
- 10 km (2 laps)
- Half Marathon (5 laps)
- Full Marathon (8 laps)
- Ultra Marathon (9 laps or more)
The course is designed with straightforward logistics and requires no special navigation or mandatory kit. An aid station providing water and refreshments is situated at the Race HQ/Base Camp, which serves as the start and lap point for every circuit. Participants must bring their own bottles or cups as this is a cupless event.
Logistics and Location
The event base is located near the main toilet block at Ferry Meadows, where the start arch, gazebos, and registration area are situated. Parking is available on-site for a fee. While road trainers are generally suitable for the country park footpaths, trail shoes may be used depending on weather conditions.
Finishers receive a medal at the end of the race. Options include a bespoke event-specific medal or a non-specific finisher medal. Virtual participation options are also available for those unable to attend in person. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
