Run for Cake
Run for Cake returns for its fifth year at Ferry Meadows, a large country park near Peterborough in Nene Park. The event uses a measured lap of 5.3 km that runs through forest on gravel footpaths and some grass areas, described as a multi terrain course.
The event is offered in two time formats so participants can run as far as they wish within their chosen period. Runners complete repeated laps and may rest between laps. There is an aid station on the lap and simple event logistics that do not require navigation or special kit.
Standard lap counts given as examples are five laps for a heavy half marathon and nine laps for an ultra marathon, with options to increase laps on the day, for example up to twelve laps. The event accommodates a range of target distances including:
- 5 km
- 10 km
- Half Marathon
- Full Marathon
- Ultra Marathon
Race headquarters and the lap point are located at the start area near the main toilet block and parking payment machines; the base camp includes registration and the on course water and aid station. Road trainers are suggested, with trail shoes optional depending on weather. A bespoke event medal is provided to finishers unless a generic finisher medal option was chosen. The venue charges for parking and the event operates as a cupless event so participants should bring a refillable bottle or cup. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
