Run for 21
Run for 21 is a 3.21 mile road race held in Forest Park on June 7, 2026. The distance is presented as a 5k plus a little extra to honor the third copy of the twenty-first chromosome. The race takes place immediately before the Step Up for Down Syndrome celebration.
Race amenities include a race shirt, a finisher medal, a personalized bib, and an all you can eat pancake breakfast provided by Chris Cakes after the race. Packet pick up is offered June 4, June 5, and June 6 at the Gateway DSA office, with additional pick up available on race day. The guaranteed t-shirt deadline is April 24.
Entry pricing is tiered by registration date, with early, mid, and late registration fees listed by the organizer. Awards are presented to the top three male and top three female finishers in each age group: 12 and under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and over.
Dogs on leashes and strollers are allowed on the course when lined up at the back of the start so as not to impede runners. Participants are asked not to bring dogs into the Step Up for Down Syndrome celebration that follows the race. Proceeds benefit the Gateway Down Syndrome Association, and sponsorship opportunities are available. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
