Greenville Journal Run Downtown 5K
The Greenville Journal Run Downtown 5K is an annual 5 kilometer road race held in Greenville, South Carolina. The event is presented by the Greenville Track Club and sponsored by the Greenville Journal. It is included in the GTC running series with series sponsorship by Incite Consulting Group. For 2027 the race is scheduled for the third Saturday of January, on January 16, and the listed meeting point is 300 S. Main St., Greenville, SC 29601.
Packet pickup is offered the Friday before the race at Fleet Feet Greenville, 635 Augusta St., and on the morning of the race inside the Courtyard Hotel at 50 W. Broad St. The Courtyard Hotel also provides indoor space for participants to wait before the race; the hotel is located across from the Peace Center on W. Broad St. Several nearby parking options are listed, including garages at 120 S. Main St. and 414 River St., plus a lot at 75 W. Broad St.
The course begins on S. Main near the Peace Center and follows a downtown loop that returns to S. Main. Course monitors and pavement markings are used to guide runners. Chip timing mats record start and finish times and are used for all awards. Awards include top three male and female overall, masters and older age categories, plus age-group awards across standard brackets. There are no refunds or transfers, though race fee insurance is available during registration. Dogs are not permitted due to insurance; strollers are allowed with caution and should start toward the back. Walkers may participate and are asked to start near the back for safety.
