Event overview
The Greenville Journal Run Downtown is a 5K road race held annually on the third Saturday of January. The 2026 edition is the 47th running and takes place on January 17, 2026. The event is presented by the Greenville Track Club and sponsored by the Greenville Journal. It is a GTC Corporate Shield event and is included in the GTC running series sponsored by Incite Consulting Group.
Location and course
The event is based at 300 S. Main St., Greenville, SC 29601, with the start near the Peace Center and the finish back on S. Main near the Peace Center. The published course route proceeds via W. Broad, W. Washington, Nassau, Oscar, Madison, Willard, Mayberry, SRT, Reedy View Dr., and River St.
Logistics and policies
Packet pickup is offered the day before at Fleet Feet Greenville, 635 Augusta St., and on race morning at the start area inside the Courtyard hotel, 50 W. Broad St. Public parking options listed include 75 W. Broad St (next to the Courtyard Hotel), 120 S. Main St (Poinsett Garage), and 414 River St (River Street Garage). Chip timing mats are used at the start and finish. There are no refunds, deferrals, or transfers; race fee insurance is available during registration. Dogs are not allowed due to insurance; strollers are allowed with caution and should start near the back. Walking is permitted with a 90-minute allowance.
