Event overview
The Greenville Journal Run Downtown is a road race held as a 5K. The 2026 edition is the 47th annual race and takes place on Saturday, January 17, 2026. The event is presented by the Greenville Track Club and sponsored by the Greenville Journal. It is a GTC Corporate Shield event and is part of the GTC running series sponsored by Incite Consulting Group. The race has been held since 1979.
Course and logistics
The race start and finish are on S. Main Street near the Peace Center in Greenville, SC (300 S. Main St., Greenville, SC 29601). The course follows several downtown streets and returns to S. Main near the Peace Center; course monitors will guide turns. Chip timing mats are used at the start and finish. Packet pickup is available Friday, January 16 at Fleet Feet Greenville (635 Augusta St.) and on race morning inside the Courtyard Hotel (50 W. Broad St.). The Courtyard Hotel, located across from the Peace Center, allows participants into its lobby before the race. Public parking options listed by the organizer include 75 W. Broad St., 120 S. Main St. (Poinsett Garage), and 414 River St. Awards use chip time and include top three male and female overall, masters (40+), grandmasters (50+), senior grandmasters (60+), and age-group awards for standard age brackets. There are no refunds, deferrals, or transfers; race-fee insurance is offered during registration. Dogs are not allowed.
