Run Bolton Abbey is a scenic trail in North Yorkshire with distances up to a half marathon on a single hilly loop through the estate. Limited to 1200 places, it raises funds for Sue Ryder and awards medals made from fallen estate trees.

Run Bolton Abbey 2026 : event overview

Run Bolton Abbey is a trail running event at Bolton Abbey, North Yorkshire, organised by Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice. Distances offered are:

The event has an entry limit of 1,200 places and entry on the day is not available. All proceeds go to Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice. Each finisher will receive a medal made from fallen trees within the Bolton Abbey Estate. Races start in waves. Free parking is included with entries.

Course, facilities and entry

The course is a single lap trail route with a hilly profile. It is not suitable for wheelchairs. Race headquarters is on the field opposite Cavendish Pavilions.

On-course facilities include water stations and toilets. There are no distance markers, no changing facilities, no showers, and no baggage store. Entry fees include race fees, card charges and admin and include free parking; fees differ by distance. There are strict cut offs for the 10 mile and half marathon distances.
