Run Around the Square

Run Around the Square is a community running event held in the Regent Square area with courses that extend into Frick Park. The event offers two distances and uses neighborhood streets and park trails. Both races begin near the Environmental Charter School at the corner of Henrietta and Milton. Pre-race packet pick up is at the Wilkins School Community Center, 7604 Charleston Avenue, with a session on the Friday before the race and additional pick up on race morning. Online registration opens May 1 and remains available through August 20. Entry fees listed by the organizer are $30 for the 5K and $25 for the 1.5 mile event.

USATF sanctioning applies to the 5K; under that policy dogs and strollers are not permitted in the 5K. The 1.5 mile run/walk allows leashed dogs when each dog has a registered handler and owners clean up after their animals. Only participants 13 years of age and under are eligible for awards in the 1.5 mile event, and those participants must complete the course without assistance to qualify. Course notes describe the 5K as passing through Regent Square streets and then continuing on Frick Park cross-country trails, finishing in Fern Hollow.
