Run Around the Square
Run Around the Square features two community running events in Regent Square and Frick Park, Pittsburgh, PA. Both races begin at the Environmental Charter School near the corner of Henrietta and Milton. The course for the 1.5 mile takes place on the streets of Regent Square. The 5K route uses Regent Square streets for much of the first mile, then continues on Frick Park cross-country trails and finishes in Fern Hollow.
Event options include:
- 5K - entry fee $30
- 1.5 Mile - entry fee $25
The 5K is a USATF sanctioned event. USATF rules prohibit strollers and animals in the 5K. The 1.5 mile event is family oriented; toddlers in strollers may participate and dogs are permitted only in the 1.5 mile event. Dogs must be on leash and a registered handler must accompany each dog. Participants are responsible for cleaning up after their animals. Awards for the 1.5 mile are limited to participants 13 years of age and under; award eligibility requires completing the course without assistance.
Pre-race packet pick up is held at the Wilkins School Community Center, 7604 Charleston Avenue, Swissvale. Packet pickup is available Friday, August 21 from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm and on race morning starting at 7:00 am. Registration opens May 1, 2026 and closes July 31, 2026.
