Run Around the Square
Run Around the Square is a running event in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania that includes two course options and local packet pick up. Packet pick up is held at the Wilkins School Community Center, 7604 Charleston Avenue in Swissvale, on the Friday before the event from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm, and again on race morning starting at 7:00 am.
Distances offered:
- 5K: USATF sanctioned, Regent Square streets and Frick Park trails.
- 1.5 Mile Run/Walk: Regent Square streets; dogs and strollers allowed with rules.
The 5K is a USATF sanctioned race and therefore does not allow dogs or strollers. The 1.5 Mile Run/Walk permits toddlers in strollers and dogs when dogs are leashed and each dog has a registered handler. Participants with dogs are responsible for cleaning up after their animals. For the 1.5 Mile event, awards are limited to participants 13 years of age and under; award eligibility requires completing the course without assistance, so those carried or in strollers are not eligible.
Both races begin at the Environmental Charter School near the corner of Henrietta and Milton. The 5K course passes through Regent Square and then follows Frick Park cross-country trails, finishing in Fern Hollow. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
