Run Across Tennessee 170 Mile Relay
Run Across Tennessee is a team relay covering 170 miles from the Tennessee/Virginia state line north of Harrogate, TN, south through Knoxville, and ending at the Tennessee/Georgia state line just south of Cleveland, TN. The event is organized to raise funds for research and treatment of NGLY1 deficiency; all proceeds go toward care and research for Callie Gibson.
Teams plan and execute their own logistics. Participants are responsible for their transportation, food, water, lodging, and safety. The course uses open public roads; roads will not be closed for the event. Organizers note that two sections of the course must be skipped by runners because of limited shoulder space and high commercial traffic. Runners must wear high visibility vests at all times and use lighted vests or lights during nighttime running.
The winner is determined by the least elapsed time between a team start and finish, with penalties applied for finishing outside the event finish window to balance teams that move at different paces. This is not a formal race; teams and individual runners should prepare for self-supported travel and make safety-based decisions about when to run or pause on the course.
