Event Details

The Run 4 Water MKE takes place in Milwaukee. The in-person event is scheduled for April 26, 2026. Participants can also take part in a virtual version of the event.

Distances

5K: This is a run/walk event.

Location & Course

The in-person event starts and finishes at 1500 N Lincoln Memorial Dr in Milwaukee. The 5K distance is symbolic, representing the distances people in other parts of the world travel to access water.

Charity & Purpose

All proceeds from the event go to projects designed and built by Engineers Without Borders at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. These projects provide clean water to villages in rural Guatemala. The event's mission aligns with the United Nations World Water Day.

Awards

Awards are given to the top three female and top three male finishers, who will receive recognition and a medal. The fastest male and female finishers receive an additional bonus prize. The largest team wins a traveling trophy to keep for a year.

Virtual Event Option

A virtual race option is available. This can be completed any time between the morning of Saturday, April 18 and the morning of Sunday, April 26, 2026. Awards for the virtual race are mailed out after the event. The race directors reserve the right to change the in-person race to a virtual format.
