About the race
Rumpus in Bumpass is a triathlon event held at Pleasants Landing Marina on Lake Anna, VA on April 17, 2027. The event features both Olympic and Sprint triathlons, plus relay and aquabike options.
Distances offered:
- Olympic triathlon: 1.5 km swim; 24 mile bike; 10 km run
- Sprint triathlon: 750 m swim; 12.2 mile bike; 5 km run
The swim takes place in the southeast portion of Lake Anna near the point where warmer water moves from the hot side to the cold side, which typically produces above average water temperatures in late April. Swim courses are supported, include two right turns, and have sighting buoys every 75 meters; the layout allows spectators to view much of the swim from the peninsula.
Bike courses use low traffic, well paved roads and are described as rolling. The Olympic bike is a two-loop route around and across the lake; the sprint bike is a single loop with a few short climbs on lake causeways. The run courses are out-and-back routes that include a short section through woods and along the South Anna River.
Parking at the marina is limited and offsite parking is used for late arrivals. The event is USA Triathlon sanctioned. Packet pickup is available at the race site on the day before and the morning of the event.
