Ruidoso Grindstone Trail Runs - August 22, 2026
The Ruidoso Grindstone Trail Runs is the 12th annual trail race held in downtown Ruidoso, New Mexico, with start and finish at Wingfield Park (300 Center St, Midtown Ruidoso). The event supports the All-Season Adaptive Sports program; over the past eleven years more than $60,000 has been donated. The race is supported by the Village of Ruidoso, Lincoln County, and the US Forest Service. Event features include commemorative engraved granite stone coasters as finisher medals, a custom shirt, a custom race bib, complimentary professional race photos, post-race showers at the Ruidoso Athletic Club, and an after-party with a local brewery offering participant discounts.
Distances
- 13.8 miles - Heavy Half Marathon, trail terrain with hills and technical downhills.
- 8.5 miles - Trail with hills; one on-course refill station.
- 4 miles - Half paved, half trail; no on-course water; walkers welcomed.
- Kid's Dash - One loop around Wingfield Park; souvenir kids medal.
Logistics and awards
The event uses chip timing and is a cup-less race with filling stations and refill points at Wingfield Park and on-course for longer distances. Each trail intersection will be signed. Awards include carved Ruidoso bear trophies for the top three overall male and female finishers and souvenir charms or medals for age-group places across standard age divisions. No refunds and race entries are not transferable. T-shirt sizes are guaranteed for registrations received by August 13. Rules prohibit pets, strollers, and e-bikes on the trails.
