Event Overview
The Ruidoso Grindstone Trail Runs is a trail running event taking place on August 22, 2026. This will be the 12th annual edition of the event. It is held at Wingfield Park in downtown Ruidoso, New Mexico, at an altitude of 6900 feet. Proceeds from the event benefit the All-Season Adaptive Sports program, which supports individuals with disabilities through recreation.
Distances
The event features several race distances:
- Half Marathon Heavy (13.8 miles)
- 8.5 Miler
- 4 Miler
- Kids Dash (one loop around the park)
All races start and finish at Wingfield Park. The 4-mile course is described as half paved and half trail.
Course and Support
The event is a cupless race. Participants are required to bring their own hydration container. Filling stations will be available at the start/finish area and at certain points on the longer courses. Post-race refreshments and fruit are provided. Showers are available after the race at the Ruidoso Athletic Club.
All participants receive a commemorative engraved granite stone coaster finisher's medal, a custom shirt, and a race bib. Professional race photos are provided free of charge. Top three overall winners (male and female) receive famous Ruidoso carved bear awards. Age group awards are also given.
Additional Information
Packet pickup is available the day before and on race morning at Wingfield Park. The event has a no-refund policy and bib numbers are not transferable. For safety reasons, no pets, strollers, or e-bikes are allowed on the trails. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
