RuckUs 4 FREEDOM - Marshalltown, IA
RuckUs 4 FREEDOM is an inaugural community event on June 27, 2026 in Marshalltown, Iowa, at IVH. The event program includes a H.E.R.O. 5K Ruck Walk, a FREEDOM 5K Run/Walk, and virtual versions of both events. All listed events are 5K.
Participants may choose to wear a weighted backpack for the ruck walk, following a military tradition. Recommended weights are 11 pounds for female participants and 22 pounds for male participants. Weight should come from canned goods that can be donated to a VFW food pantry after the event. Scales will be available at the start. Motorized vehicles, bicycles, wagons, and pets are not allowed on the ruck course.
All participants receive a custom event medal and a custom dri fit tech t-shirt. Awards are given to the top three finishers in each event. Pre- and post-race hydration will be provided. The event is managed by Blu 365. Standard registration fee is $35, and race day pricing is $35. Registration opens January 1, 2026 and closes June 27, 2026.
Due to the nature of the course, strollers and wheelchairs are not recommended. There is no bag check because of the common start and finish area. The event proceeds in rain or shine and refunds or transfers are not available due to weather.
The official charity is the Fort Des Moines African American Military Officer Museum. Funds will benefit the mental health of soldiers and their families through therapy. The event also contributes to Outdoor Experience For All to provide outdoor adventures for veterans. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
