The Ruck for the Fallen is a running and rucking event taking place in Quitman, Texas. The event honors military personnel who have made sacrifices defending freedoms. Participants can choose to run or walk.

Key Details
The event venue is Governor Jim Hogg Park at 518 S. Main St. in Quitman. A ruck involves carrying a weighted pack; for the ruck events, participants must carry a ruck weighing at least 35 lbs. This weight will be checked before and after the race.
Packet pickup is scheduled for the Thursday and Friday before the event at Honor Coffee on Main St. in Quitman, and on the morning of the event at the Jim Hogg Park Pavilion.
The race is held rain or shine and may be postponed for weather, but it will not be rescheduled for a different date. The course is not closed to traffic, so participants must be aware of vehicles.
Awards and Beneficiaries
Only participants in the ruck events are eligible for podium awards. Award categories include fastest individual male and female finishers for the 5K Ruck and 10K Ruck, as well as team awards for "Battle Buddy" (2 participants) and "Fire Team" (4 participants) categories, with specific rules about starting and finishing together.
Proceeds from the event support two organizations: 99% goes to the veteran non-profit Boot Campaign, and 1% goes to the Quitman Lake Country Charitable Foundation. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
