RPM 911 5K

The RPM 911 5K is an annual running event held in Atlanta, Georgia. Based at the American Legion Post 140 on Powers Ferry Road, the race serves as a day of patriotic remembrance and a tribute to the life of Ryan Patman Means. The event honors his journey from a corporate professional to a Special Forces soldier following the events of September 11, 2001.

The race focuses on supporting veterans and service members through the Shepherd Center. Proceeds from the event are directed toward the SHARE Military Initiative, a comprehensive rehabilitation program designed for service men and women who have experienced traumatic brain injury (TBI) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) during conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Additional funds raised through the event support donor-funded programs at the Shepherd Center, including:

  • Housing for patient families
  • Recreational therapy
  • ASW programs

The event has been held for 15 years and has raised over $1,500,000 for the SHARE program since 2011. In previous years, the race has seen participation from over 600 runners. The event provides a community environment dedicated to remembering those affected by the events of September 11th while supporting local medical and rehabilitative services for veterans.
