Event Overview
The Royal Road Race takes place on Mother's Day weekend at the RCMP Training Academy in Regina, Saskatchewan. The event offers a selection of distances: a 1K Mini Mountie run for children, a 3K Family Run, and a 5K and 10K run/walk/wheelchair event. It is also the host of the 2026 Saskatchewan Provincial 5km Road Championships.
Event Details
The event includes a breakfast buffet for all participants. Finishers in the 5km and 10km events receive a pair of earrings from Hillberg & Berk along with a finisher's medal. Participants in the 3K Family Run and 1K Mini Mountie run receive a finisher's medal.
A prize purse totaling $4,000 is guaranteed for top finishers in the 5K and 10K open and masters divisions. Additional awards and flowers are given to the top three mothers in the 5K and 10K runs. Provincial championship medals are awarded for top finishers in specific age groups of the 5K.
Practical Information
The event is capped at 700 participants. Package pickup occurs at the Atlas Hotel on the two days prior to race day; there is no pickup on race day. Parking is available at the RCMP Heritage Centre. A brunch buffet and awards ceremony follow the races.
Strollers, bicycles, skateboards, inline skates, and pets are not allowed on the course. The use of portable headphone devices is also prohibited. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
