About the 2026 Royal Road Race
The Royal Road Race takes place within Canada's RCMP Training Academy in Regina, Saskatchewan. Held during Mother's Day weekend, this event offers a unique opportunity to run on the grounds of the historic academy. The 2026 edition also serves as the host for the Saskatchewan Provincial 5km Road Championships, featuring age groups for U20, Senior, and multiple Masters categories.
The event features several distances and formats:
- 10km Run
- 5km Run, Walk, or Wheelchair
- 3km Family Run
- 1km Mini Mountie Run (for ages 10 and under)
Registration for the 5km and 10km events includes a breakfast buffet, a finishers medal, and a pair of earrings. The 3km Family Run and Mini-Mountie registrations include the breakfast buffet and a finishers medal. A prize purse totaling $4,000 is available for top finishers in the Open and Masters divisions for the longer distances.
Package pickup is held at the Atlas Hotel on the Thursday and Friday before the race; there is no package pickup on race day. Due to the secure location, participants must have their race bibs visible upon arrival for screening. For safety reasons, the use of headphones, strollers, bicycles, skateboards, or pets is strictly prohibited on the course. The event is limited to a maximum of 700 participants.
