Event overview
The Royal Gorge Groove takes place Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Royal Gorge Ranch & Resort in Cañon City, Colorado. Race distances offered include 50K, 30K, 20K, a course of about 12–13K, 5K, and a Kids Run. All races start and finish at the Royal Gorge Ranch & Resort / Gunslingers Club. Live split tracking and chip-timed results are provided.
Course and race details
Courses run along the rim of the Royal Gorge, about 900 feet above the Arkansas River, and include rocky, technical trail sections, steep drop-offs, and rolling hills. Aid stations are provided roughly every 2 to 6 miles. Crews may access the start/finish area; drop bags are available at the start/finish for 50K runners and a finish-line drop bag option is provided for all distances. Pacers are not permitted. Weather in April is typically cool and snow is possible; organizers may require mandatory gear or stop runners if conditions are unsafe.
Bib pickup is available the day before at Whitewater Bar & Grill and on race morning at the race headquarters. EMT medical support will be based at the start/finish and a phone contact is provided for on-course assistance. Camping and lodging options are listed through local providers, including reserved East Ridge Campground sites and rental yurts and airstreams.
