Event Details
The Royal Gorge Groove takes place in Cañon City, Colorado. The event features multiple running distances: a 50K, 30K, 20K, 12.5K, 5K, and a Kids Run.
Course
All races start and finish at the Gunslingers Club at Royal Gorge Ranch & Resort. The course runs along the rim of the Royal Gorge, approximately 900 feet above the Arkansas River. The terrain is described as rugged with rocky trails and rolling hills. The location is historically known as a key railroad route from the 1870s.
Logistics
Participants receive a gender-specific race shirt, a custom finisher medal, and chip-timed results. Aid stations are available every 2 to 6 miles. Drop bags are allowed for 50K runners at the start/finish area. Crews and spectators are welcome at the start/finish area, but parking may be limited. Pacers are not allowed for any distance. EMTs and basic first aid support are available on-site.
Bib pickup is available on the Friday before the event at the Whitewater Bar & Grill in Cañon City, and on the event day at the start area.
Other Information
The top three male and female finishers in each distance receive awards. The event may require runners to carry essential gear due to potentially cool or snowy April weather.
