Royal Family Superhero Fun Run
The Royal Family Superhero Fun Run takes place at the Columbia Park Bandshell, located at the east end of Columbia Park near the Playground of Dreams in Kennewick. This event serves as a fundraiser for Royal Family Kids, Pasco, to support a resident summer camp for local foster children. The organization aims to provide positive experiences and mentorship for children who have faced abuse or neglect. All registration fees contribute directly to funding camp attendance for these children.
Participants have several distance options to choose from:
- 1 Mile Super Hero Fun Run
- 5K Super Hero Run
- 10K Super Hero Run
- 5 Mile Virtual Race
The course follows a flat out and back route along the river, starting from the bandshell and heading west toward Richland. To support runners, aid stations providing water and electrolyte drinks are positioned at the turnaround points for each distance.
The event features a superhero theme, and participants are encouraged to wear costumes. Aside from the races, the venue hosts a costume contest, superhero training, and family activities including face painting, balloon making, and music. Food truck vendors are also present on-site. At the conclusion of the event, awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers in each race category. Participants completing the 10K distance receive a medal at the finish line.
