Candy Land Run
The Candy Land Run is a multi-distance trail event held at Candy Mountain in Richland, Washington. This event functions as a fundraiser for Mirror Ministries, with proceeds supporting survivors of sex trafficking. Participants navigate local trails that feature themed stations and characters inspired by the "Candy Land" board game.
The event offers several distances and formats:
- 1.25 Miles (Gumdrop Loop)
- 3.5 Miles (Chocolate Route)
- 6.2 Miles (Licorice Trail 10k)
- 10k RUCK Challenge
The 1.25 mile Gumdrop Loop is an out-and-back trail designed for families, featuring 92 feet of elevation gain and stops like the Gingerbread Tree and Candy Castle. The 3.5 mile Chocolate Route reaches the mountain summit with 545 feet of elevation gain, passing through Peppermint Forest and Lollipop Woods. The 10k distance involves a 900-foot elevation gain and includes the "secret" Licorice Trail, leading participants through orchards and vineyards.
The RUCK Challenge requires participants in the 10k to carry a dry weight of 20-30 lbs in a rucksack or backpack. This category includes divisions for Firefighters, Police, and General participants.
All routes are on trails and participants receive a themed map to collect stamps at candy stations. The 3.5 mile and 10k distances are chip-timed. Finishers receive a wooden medal, while RUCK finishers also receive a custom patch. Amenities at the finish include hot cocoa and gingerbread cookies.
