Roxborough Ultras
Roxborough Ultras offers two trail races that begin in Roxborough State Park and finish at the Sharptail Trailhead. The routes move from red rock formations up into high country terrain above Waterton and then back down toward the Front Range. Runners encounter predominantly singletrack with sections of forest service road, sandstone technical features, and long exposures.
The courses feature sustained climbing early, rolling and technical terrain through the middle miles, and an extended runnable descent to the finish. The 50 mile route includes a long out-and-back on the Colorado Trail and a final roughly ten mile descent into Sharptail. Both races are fully supported with aid stations positioned along the routes.
Distances and key details:
- 50.2 miles, 9,337 ft elevation, 15 hour cut-off
- 31.1 miles, 5,279 ft elevation, 12 hour cut-off
Stewardship and permission are central to the event. Roxborough Ultras is the first race permitted to start inside Roxborough State Park, organized in coordination with Roxborough State Park, the U.S. Forest Service, and Douglas County Open Space. The organizers emphasize minimizing the event footprint, intentional course design, and ongoing stewardship including planned trail work days in partnership with land managers.
