Rowbotham's Round Rotherham - Solo
Rowbotham's Round Rotherham is organised by Rotherham Harriers and Athletics Club Trail and Fell Running Section. The 43rd running is set for Saturday 3 October 2026, with the Event Centre at the Manvers Waterfront Boat Club.
Distances:
- 80 km
- 50 miles
The route is an undulating trail through the area designated as the South Yorkshire Forest, with an overall climb of about 800 m and an altitude generally below 150 m. The course is divided into eight stages that pass through Grange, Treeton, Harthill, Woodsetts, Firbeck, Maltby and Hooton Roberts before returning to the finish area. Underfoot conditions vary by stage and include hard surfaces, canal towpath, tracks, village roads and field crossings that can be muddy or firm depending on weather and farming.
Both individual and relay formats are offered; relay teams consist of two to eight people and change at checkpoints. Navigation aids such as maps, a strip map, GPS data and smartphone satnav guidance are provided for participants. The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and held under UK Athletics rules. Safety notes include the presence of a railway level crossing and a bridge crossing later on the route. Competitors are expected to carry adequate clothing including a waterproof top and to use a torch if running in darkness. Participants must register on the day and check in at checkpoints as required by the organisers and event rules. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
