Round Rotherham
Round Rotherham is an annual long-distance trail event organised by a local athletics club, with the 43rd running scheduled for Saturday 3 October 2026 from the Manvers Waterfront Boat Club event centre. The route is undulating through the area designated as the South Yorkshire Forest, covering approximately 800 m of total climb while remaining at low altitude, generally below 150 m.
Distances offered:
- 80 km
- 50 miles
The route uses a mix of surfaces including canal towpaths, firm tracks, minor roads, field crossings, woods and cycleable paths. Underfoot conditions vary by stage and may include muddy or sloppy sections, firmer valley paths, and some short road sections. The course is waymarked but shares sections with a local ring route; where routes coincide there are notable differences and participants should follow the event route guidance.
Individual and relay formats are available; relay teams consist of two to eight members and change at the event checkpoints. The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and held under UK Athletics rules. Participants are expected to register on the day, report to the finish or retire at official checkpoints, return timing cards, and carry suitable clothing and navigation aids. There is a level crossing on the route and a bridge crossing after about 76 km; participants must take care and cross only when safe. GPS data, maps and navigation notes are provided for runners and supporters. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
