Round Rotherham (Solo)
Round Rotherham is an international trail running event centred on the Manvers Waterfront Boat Club in South Yorkshire. The solo course covers approximately 80 km (50 miles) with about 800 m of total climb across an undulating route through the area described as the South Yorkshire Forest. The event for 2026 is scheduled for Saturday 3 October 2026.
The route is divided into eight stages with individual stage lengths varying from about 6 km to 16 km. Underfoot conditions change between stages and include firm tracks, roads, canal towpaths, field crossings and woodland paths; some sections can be muddy or sloppy depending on recent weather. Maps, written route descriptions and GPS data are provided for navigation and supporters can follow the route between checkpoints. Relay teams of two to eight people change at each checkpoint while individuals complete the full course.
The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and held under UK Athletics rules. Competitors are expected to plan for autumn conditions at low altitude and to carry suitable clothing and navigation aids. The route includes at least one railway level crossing and a railway bridge; participants are responsible for their own safety when crossing.
