Rossiter Run 5K Race and Fun Run/Walk
The Rossiter Run is an annual event held at the Steep Rock Preserve in Washington Depot. This sixth edition of the challenge features a course that follows the Shepaug River. Participants move along a scenic route characterized by a gradual incline through the natural preserve environment.
Participants can choose from the following event options:
- 3.1 Miles (5K Race): A timed competitive run with age group awards.
- 3.1 Miles (Fun Run/Walk): An untimed event for those not seeking a competitive result.
The event follows environmentally conscious practices. To minimize waste, attendees are asked to bring their own water bottles, which can be refilled at provided water stations. Registration fees vary based on the selected category and age, with specific rates for adults and youth aged 14 and under.
Awards are presented to the first-place overall finishers in the male, female, and nonbinary categories. Additionally, recognition is given to the top three finishers in several age groups, ranging from 19 and under to 60 and over. Participants in the Fun Run/Walk category do not receive race bibs and are not included in the timing or award results. The event takes place at 2 Tunnel Road.
