Event overview
The Rosaryville Veterans Day Trail Race is the 16th annual event presented by the Annapolis Striders at Rosaryville State Park in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. The race is limited to 250 participants. Distances offered:
- 50K
- 20K
Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers and top male and female military (active duty or retired) in both distances. Time limits are set at 8 hours for the 50K and 7 hours for the 20K. The event license prohibits headphones, pets, and baby joggers on course.
Course and logistics
Both courses start and finish at the Pavilion picnic area near the perimeter trail entrance and run primarily on a 9.5-mile single-track perimeter trail through woods and meadows. The 50K is roughly 3.25 loops of the perimeter trail and the 20K is roughly 1.25 loops. The 50K has about 2600 ft of total elevation gain. The trail is mostly single track and described as not very technical, though roots, rocks, and stumps are present under leaf cover in early November.
There are two aid stations on course and a drop bag area very close to the start/finish with access points at about the 5k, 20k, and 35k marks. Drop bags are not under cover and must be labeled. Course markings use white pie plates and white confidence ribbons only. Pace support is allowed on the third loop on foot. Refunds, deferrals, and transfers are restricted by race policy.
