Roots of Mercer 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run
The Roots of Mercer 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run takes place on July 11, 2026 at Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill in Harrodsburg, Kentucky. The event aims to highlight local resources, historic sites, and community organizations, with all proceeds supporting We Are Mercer County, a community organization focused on local resources and agriculture.
Race options include:
- 5K Run/Walk - chip timed, 3.1 miles, paved and packed gravel surfaces
- 1 Mile Fun Run - for kids 14 and under, not officially timed
The 5K includes overall and age group awards. The 1 Mile Fun Run will present a Fastest Kid in Town award to the top finishing child. Registrations include a commemorative unisex race T shirt while supplies last. Team registration is available and there is a prize for the largest team. Race morning packet pickup will be offered at Shaker Village.
Event activities will also feature community vendor booths with local small businesses, preservation groups, and educational organizations. Volunteer roles are needed to support packet pickup, parking, course marshals, water stops, and awards; volunteers who complete a full shift receive a race T shirt.
