Roots & Heritage 3K Powered by Lexington African-American Sports Hall of Fame
The Roots & Heritage 3K is a competitive, timed 3K race held as part of the Lexington Roots & Heritage Festival on September 12, 2026. The event takes place at 300 E. Third Street in Lexington, Kentucky, with the course described as a flat, fast route on paved trail surfaces in the East End neighborhood near the intersection of Elm Tree Lane and Third Street.
Registration opens June 22, 2026 and closes July 14, 2026; the listed registration fee is $25.00. Packet pickup is scheduled for the day before the race, Friday, September 11, with the specific time to be announced. Custom unisex T-shirts are provided to all 3K participants.
The event is open to runners and walkers. Strollers and dogs on fixed length leashes are allowed on the course. Awards are given to the top three male and top three female overall finishers and to the top three finishers in each age group. Age categories include 9 and under, 10-19, and successive decades up to 70 and up.
