Roots & Heritage 3K Powered by Lexington African-American Sports Hall of Fame
The event is a timed 3K running and walking race held as part of the Lexington Roots & Heritage Festival. The course is described as flat and fast on paved trail surfaces in Lexington's East End near the historic Lyric Theatre at 300 E. Third Street, Lexington, KY 40508.
The race is open to runners and walkers of all levels. Strollers and dogs on fixed-length leashes are permitted. All 3K participants receive custom unisex T-shirts. Awards are given to the top three overall finishers for female and male divisions and to the top three finishers in the listed age categories, which range from 9 and under through 70 and up.
Registration opens June 22, 2026, and closes July 14, 2026; the registration fee is $25.00. There is a pre-race packet pickup on the Friday before the event, with the specific time to be announced.
