Ron Shields Perry 5000
The Ron Shields Perry 5000 is an annual athletic event held in New Bloomfield, Pennsylvania. Historically known as the Perry 5000, the race was renamed in 2021 to honor a local figure dedicated to the West Perry cross-country team and the road running community. The event takes place in a community setting and concludes in conjunction with a local street fair, providing participants with additional activities following the completion of their events.
Participants can choose from three distinct event distances:
- 5K running race
- 1 Mile walk
- 1 Mile Kids Fun Run
The 5K serves as the primary running event of the day. Once the 5K participants have finished the course, the 1 Mile walk and the youth-focused fun run commence. The gathering brings together runners and walkers for a day of physical activity in Perry County. Registration is required for all categories, with varying fees associated with the 5K and the walking event, while the children's run is offered at no cost to participants.
