About the race
The Romero Animal Foundation 5K is scheduled for Sunday, January 24, 2027 at Zoo Miami. The event is the second annual running of the 5K run/walk that supports homeless and rescued animals in Miami-Dade County.
The community event follows the 2026 edition, which involved more than 250 runners, walkers, volunteers, and animal supporters and helped move adoptable animals toward new homes. Proceeds fund veterinary care, food programs, rescue efforts, spay and neuter initiatives, and adoption services across Miami-Dade County. The Romero Animal Foundation is a private 501(c)(3) that provides food and veterinary care and financially assists local rescues with TNR and adoption efforts.
The event features a scenic course through Zoo Miami, a finish-line celebration, opportunities to meet adoptable pets, and on-site rescue animal adoptions after the race. Awards include the top three overall male and female finishers, top three age-group winners, and a finisher medal for all participants. Packet pickup takes place before the race.
