About the race
The Romero Animal Foundation 5K is the second annual community race held at Zoo Miami on Sunday, January 24, 2027. The event features a 5K run/walk and a scenic course through the zoo, with a finish-line celebration and opportunities to meet adoptable animals. Proceeds support veterinary care, food programs, rescue efforts, spay and neuter initiatives, and adoption services for animals in Miami Dade County.
The race includes awards for the top three overall male and female finishers and top three finishers in each age group, and all finishers receive a finisher medal. Packet pickup is scheduled the day before the race at Valente Brothers Jiu-Jitsu in Coral Gables at 50 Aragon Ave. Registration for the 5K run/walk is listed with an entry fee that increases on January 17, 2027, and the event page shows ongoing fundraising toward a $10,000 goal, with $1,645 donated so far. Romero Animal Foundation is a private 501c3 focused on feeding and providing veterinary care for stray animals and on financially assisting local rescues in support of TNR and adoption efforts.
