Rombald's Romp Fell Race

The Rombald's Romp is a category BM fell race organized by North Leeds Fell Runners. The single-lap course covers a distance of 13 km (8.1 miles) with a total ascent of 370 meters (1,214 feet) across Ilkley Moor.

The route is multi-terrain, consisting of rough rocky tracks and heathery paths. It also includes approximately one mile of road section located at the back of the moor. A forest segment provides variety to the course, featuring wooden bridges and sections with tree roots. The start and finish lines are located on Keighley Road, approximately half a mile from the race headquarters.

As a Fell Runners Association (FRA) licensed event, specific mandatory kit requirements are in place. Participants must carry a waterproof jacket with taped seams and an integrated hood, waterproof trousers, a hat, gloves, a compass, and a whistle.

Facilities at the site are basic. There are no changing rooms, showers, or dedicated baggage storage. Public toilets are located in the town centre, roughly 1 km from the start. Race headquarters and registration are situated at the race finish on Keighley Gate Road. Parking is available at Darwin Gardens or on Wells Road. Prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers, as well as winners in age categories from V40 to V60. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
