Event Overview
The Summer Meltdown Half Marathon takes place at Audubon Park in Garland, Texas. This event is held during the summer months, with a course that utilizes paved trails, crushed granite, and dirt paths. The routes navigate through shaded areas, along rivers, and across hills. Participants can expect on-course aid stations providing water and medical assistance if required.
The event includes a race rally tent at the finish line offering snacks and refreshments. A DJ provides music and announces finishers, and an awards ceremony is held to recognize various category winners.
Distance Options
Participants can choose from several distances:
- Kids Dash: A 20-yard run for participants aged 10 and under.
- 1 Mile Run: A non-timed event for all ages.
- 5k Run (3.11 Miles): A chip-timed race with overall and age group awards.
- Quarter Marathon (6.55 Miles): A chip-timed race with overall and age group awards.
- Half Marathon (13.1 Miles): A chip-timed race with overall and age group awards.
- Virtual Run: A 13.1-mile remote participation option.
Awards and Recognition
The 5k, Quarter Marathon, and Half Marathon are chip-timed. Trophies are awarded to the first overall male and female finishers. Special recognition pins are provided for master's category winners (age 40+) and the top three finishers in standard age groups ranging from 10 and under to 70+. Participants in the Kids Dash receive a specialized recognition pin. Registration for timed events includes a t-shirt (subject to a ten-day cutoff) and a finisher medal.
