Summer Meltdown Half Marathon - Sam Houston Trail Park
The Summer Meltdown Half Marathon is organized by Bigfoot Running Company and takes place at Sam Houston Trail Park in Irving, Texas. The event offers multiple in-person distances and a virtual half marathon. Course support includes aid stations with water and on-course assistance. The finish area features a race rally tent with snacks, refreshments, a DJ, and live awards announced at the registration tent.
The event notes that packet pickup is available 1.5 hours before the start and that volunteers arrive 1.5 hours before the start to check in. Shirt guarantee cutoff is 10 days before the event. Course surfaces may include paved trails, crushed granite, and dirt paths.
Distances offered:
- Kids Dash - about 20 yards, for children 10 and under
- 1 Mile - not chip timed, includes tee shirt and medal
- 5K - 3.11 miles, chip timed
- Quarter Marathon - 6.55 miles, chip timed
- Half Marathon - 13.1 miles, chip timed
- Volunteer then Run - 3.11 miles, limited to first five sign ups
- Virtual Run - 13.1 miles
Awards and timing: 5K, Quarter and Half are chip timed. Overall first place male and female receive trophies. Masters and age-group places receive special pins and awards as listed by category.
Volunteer options include water station, course monitor, finish line helper, sweeper, packet pickup, lead bike, mascot, and other roles.
