Rocky Gap 25K, 50K, Relay Trail Run
The event is scheduled for Sunday October 11, 2026 at Rocky Gap State Park in Flintstone, MD. The races use a base camp near the Mountain View Pavilion by the lake where lap starts and transfers for relay teams occur.
Distances
- 25K, approximately 16 miles, three loops once, about 1,300 feet total elevation change
- 50K, approximately 32 miles, three loops twice, about 2,600 feet total elevation change
The course is composed of three loops named Loop A, Loop B, and Loop C. Loop A Rocky Trail is 6.5 miles with more than 500 feet of climbing and includes moderate singletrack. Loop B Canyon Overlook is 4.4 miles with roughly 500 feet of climbing and follows singletrack above a gorge. Loop C Lakeside Loop is 5.2 miles with about 250 feet of climbing and follows the full lakeside trail with water views most of the way around. In expected order of difficulty Loop A is the hardest, then Loop B, then Loop C.
Entry options include solo runners and relay teams of two or three. Relay teams use a single bib that is exchanged at the end of each loop and each team member must run at least one loop.
Aid at base camp includes hot and cold food, water, soda, and Gatorade. On course aid stations provide water and Gatorade and are placed on each loop. Race rules require visible race numbers, limit outside assistance to aid stations, restrict pets pacers and strollers on course, and require runners to notify officials if they drop out.
