Rocky Gap 25K, 50K, Relay Trail Run

The event takes place on Sunday, October 12, 2025 at Rocky Gap State Park in Flintstone, MD (12500 Pleasant Valley Road, Flintstone, MD 21530). The program offers solo and relay entries for two distances and accepts teams of two or three runners for the relay options. Registration prices and deadlines vary by date.

Course and format

• 25K (approximately 16 miles)
• 50K (approximately 32 miles)

The course uses three named loops (A, B, C) run in order. The 25K completes each loop once (A, B, C) for a total elevation change of about 1,300 feet. The 50K repeats the sequence twice (A, B, C, A, B, C) for a total elevation change of about 2,600 feet. Loop A (Rocky Trail) is about 6.5 miles with 500+ feet of elevation change and includes singletrack and steep sections. Loop B (Canyon Overlook) is about 4.4 miles with roughly 500 feet of elevation change and includes ridge and doubletrack sections. Loop C (Lakeside Loop) is about 5.2 miles with about 250 feet of elevation change and follows the full lakeside trail with water views. Base camp is located by the pavilion at the water and serves as the lap start/finish and relay exchange point; it will have food, water, soda, and sports drink. On-course aid stations supply water and Gatorade, with locations noted on each loop. Relay teams exchange a single bib at the end of each loop; each team member must run at least one loop. Race rules include staying on designated trails, no pets or pacers, and a maximum finish time limit for the 50K. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
