Rocktown Adventure Race
Rocktown Adventure Race takes place on November 7 and 8, 2026 at Massanutten Resort in the Shenandoah Valley near Harrisonburg, VA. The event is a USARA sanctioned race and was developed with input from the local Rocktown adventure racing community.
The race is offered in multiple duration formats:
- 30 hour
- 5 hour
The 30 hour format includes mountain biking, trekking, paddling, and ropes. The 5 hour format includes mountain biking, trekking, and ropes. Event entries are available for solo competitors and teams of two, three, or four.
Course design emphasizes navigation and strategic route choices rather than a fixed follow-the-line format. Organizers describe unexpected course twists and sections that require teams to adapt their plans. Rope challenge sections are being coordinated and will require composure and teamwork.
Terrain uses the Massanutten singletrack and surrounding valley landscapes, including flowing technical trails and ridge-line views that test both technical skill and route planning. All courses conclude at the resort basecamp patio area where food and awards are provided and participants can gather after the race.
