Rocktown Adventure Race
Rocktown Adventure Race is an adventure race held at Massanutten Resort in Massanutten, Virginia, in the Shenandoah Valley near Harrisonburg. The event is part of the USARA Series and is developed with input from local adventure racers.
Distances
- 5 hour race
- 30 hour race (solo listed as 50 Miles)
The courses combine multiple disciplines. Both race formats include mountain biking, trekking, and ropes sections. The 30 hour race also includes paddle sections. Ropes sections are currently being coordinated and may require additional focus and team coordination.
The course design emphasizes route choice and navigation. Racers can expect strategic decisions, surprising course twists, and elements that require teams to adapt and work together. The terrain uses Massanutten singletrack, rolling valley landscapes, and ridge-line views that test both technique and endurance.
All events return to Basecamp at Massanutten Resort. Post-race activities at Basecamp include food and awards and provide an opportunity for teams to share stories from the course.
The event is USARA sanctioned and awards points toward national rankings. It is presented in collaboration with local racers and organizations from the Harrisonburg area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
