The event in Heflin, AL centers on trail races that use the Pinhoti Trail and nearby spur trails, with the finish area at Cahulga Creek Park, 343 Mountain St. Courses run mainly on single-track trail through hardwood and pine forest within Talladega National Forest and include scenic overlooks, creek crossings, and lake views.

The 50K is a point-to-point trail that follows the Pinhoti Trail and joins the Heflin Spur for the final section, finishing at Cahulga Creek Park. The 25K is a lollipop course beginning and ending at Cahulga Creek Park, using the Heflin Spur, Shoal Creek Trailhead, segments of the Pinhoti Trail, and gravel forest service roads. The 10K is an out-and-back from Cahulga Creek Park along the Heflin Spur and a short section of the Pinhoti Trail.

Aid stations are located along each course at named trailheads and road crossings. Time limits are set for each race: 50K 9 hours 30 minutes, 25K 6 hours, and 10K 4 hours. Race logistics note bus transport from Cahulga Creek Park to the 50K start is available for a fee, packet pickup is offered at Cahulga Creek Park and at start locations, restrooms are provided, and primitive camping is available at Cahulga Creek Park for a small donation.
