About the race
The Wisconsin Lakeside Half Marathon & 5K takes place in Monona, Wisconsin, with the start and finish area at Winnequah Park, 1012 Nichols Road. The event offers two distances:
- Half Marathon
- 5K Run
The half marathon course is 13.1 miles and follows paved paths and tree-lined streets along the shores of Lake Monona. Much of the route runs in cooler temperatures and low humidity. Runners see fall foliage as the leaves begin to change color and have repeated views of the Madison skyline. Around mile 6, the course passes under the Frank Lloyd Wright Monona Terrace Convention Center. Aid stations are located roughly every 2 miles.
The 5K route uses paved roads through the neighborhoods around Winnequah Park.
All participants receive an official Wisconsin Lakeside Half Marathon & 5K race shirt and a finisher medal. Shirts are a tri-blend unisex design, with availability limited after a set date.
After the races, a Finish Line Festival takes place near the course. It features live music, unlimited craft beers and cider, and food for sale from local vendors. Additional benefits listed for registered runners include live music, cider, beer, and race timing with wave starts for the half marathon.
