Rock Hall Triathlon
The Rock Hall Triathlon Festival takes place on Maryland's Eastern Shore in Rock Hall, Kent County, over the weekend of June 5-6, 2027. The event includes Olympic and Sprint triathlons plus aquabike and relay options.
Distances
- Olympic triathlon: 1.5 km swim, 24.5 mile bike, 10 km run
- Sprint triathlon: 750 m swim, 15 mile bike, 5 km run
- Aquabike distances match each triathlon swim and bike
Swims are held in Rock Hall Harbor on the Chesapeake Bay with an in-water start at the city dock and a finish at Rock Hall Landing Marina A-Dock. The harbor perimeter is used to avoid shallow center areas and a breakwater usually keeps waters calm. Athletes climb a ladder out of the water and run roughly 300 meters down the dock to transition. Organizers expect water temperatures in the mid 70s and will publish an official reading race morning.
Bike courses are mostly flat with wide shoulders through open cropland; the Olympic course includes a small hill on Earl Nicholson Road. Run courses are pancake flat and pass through local nautically themed neighborhoods with aid stations approximately every mile.
The event is USA Triathlon sanctioned. Categories include age group, masters, overall, military, Clydesdale, Athena, aquabike, and relay teams. A complimentary youth and junior pre-race clinic is offered by certified coaches. Packet pickup is available at the race site on the days before and the morning of each race; photo ID is required to collect packets. Race entries are non-refundable; registration insurance and deferral options are available. Organizers provide race shirts, socks, finisher medals, post-race food, and free finisher photos.
