Event Overview
The Rock Hall Triathlon takes place in late May in Rock Hall, Maryland. It is a USA Triathlon sanctioned event and serves as the USA Triathlon Maryland State Championships for both the sprint and Olympic distance races.
Events
The event includes several race formats over two days:
- Rock Hall Olympic Triathlon (Individual) – 1.5 km swim, 24.5 mile bike, 10 km run.
- Rock Hall Olympic Aquabike (Individual) – 1.5 km swim, 24.5 mile bike.
- Rock Hall Olympic Triathlon Relay – Team event for 2 or 3 people.
- Rock Hall Sprint Triathlon (Individual) – 750 meter swim, 15 mile bike, 5 km run.
- Rock Hall Sprint Aquabike (Individual) – 750 meter swim, 15 mile bike.
- Rock Hall Sprint Triathlon Relay – Team event for 2 or 3 people.
The Sprint Triathlon also serves as the Maryland State Senior Games Triathlon Championships for athletes aged 50 and over.
Course Details
The event is located on Maryland's Eastern Shore in Kent County. The swim takes place in Rock Hall Harbor on the Chesapeake Bay. The bike course is described as rural with wide shoulders. The run course is flat and goes through neighborhoods in Rock Hall.
Registration Information
Registration is open to participants aged 12 and over. A discount is available for registering for both the Saturday and Sunday events. The event utilizes a time trial swim start, with athletes starting two at a time. An Elite Box Start is available for athletes aiming for top overall positions.
Registered participants receive a finisher medal, event tech shirt, custom race socks, and other items. Free finish line photos are included. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
