Rock Hall Triathlon
The Rock Hall Triathlon Festival takes place in Rock Hall, Maryland on the Eastern Shore in Kent County across two race days. The event offers Olympic and Sprint triathlon distances, plus relay and aquabike options, and a free Youth and Junior pre race clinic led by certified coaches.
The swim courses use Rock Hall Harbor on the Chesapeake Bay. Both distances start in the water at the city dock, follow the harbor perimeter to avoid shallow center areas, and finish at Rock Hall Landing Marina’s A Dock where athletes climb a ladder and run about 300 meters to transition. The harbor is protected by a breakwater and the water temperature is typically in the mid 70s; an official reading is taken by USAT personnel on race day.
The bike routes are mostly flat and run through rural cropland with wide shoulders; the Olympic course includes a small hill on Earl Nicholson Road and the Sprint route has a few minor rollers. Run courses are pancake flat and pass through nautically themed neighborhoods. Aid stations offer water, electrolyte drink and ice roughly every mile.
The event is sanctioned by USA Triathlon and includes multiple scoring categories such as Overall, Masters, Age Group, Aquabike, Military, Clydesdale, Athena and Relay Teams. Packet pickup is available before each race and participants must collect their own packet with photo ID. A Do the Double option registers athletes for both days with a 20% discount on the second race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
