Rock Hall Triathlon
The Rock Hall Triathlon Festival takes place in Rock Hall, Kent County on Maryland’s Eastern Shore on June 5 and June 6, 2027. The weekend includes Olympic and Sprint distance triathlons and aquabike options, and the events are sanctioned by USA Triathlon.
Distances
- Olympic Triathlon: 1.5K swim, 24.5 mile bike, 10K run
- Olympic Aquabike: 1.5K swim, 24.5 mile bike
- Sprint Triathlon: 750 meter swim, 15 mile bike, 5K run
- Sprint Aquabike: 750 meter swim, 15 mile bike
The swim is a point to point course around the perimeter of Rock Hall Harbor on the Chesapeake Bay. The harbor center is shallow, and a breakwater shelters the swim from significant wind and waves. All swims start at the Kent County Public Bulkhead and finish at Rock Hall Landing Marina A Dock adjacent to the Waterman’s Restaurant. Athletes exit via a ladder and run about 300 meters along the dock to transition. Water temperatures are typically expected in the mid 70s with an official reading taken race morning by USAT officials.
Bike routes are generally flat, well paved, and run through open cropland with wide shoulders; the Olympic course includes a small hill on Earl Nicholson Road. Run courses are largely flat and wind through local neighborhoods. Aid stations supply water and sports drink roughly every mile and post race food and music are provided at the race site.
Packet pickup is available at the race site in the days before and the morning of each race. Participants must collect their own packet and present photo identification.
