Rock Hall Triathlon
The Rock Hall Triathlon Festival takes place in Rock Hall, Kent County on Maryland's Eastern Shore. The swim uses Rock Hall Harbor on the Chesapeake Bay with an in water start at the city dock and a finish at Rock Hall Landing Marina A Dock. The harbor is shallow in the center and protected by a breakwater, so the course follows the harbor perimeter and is usually calm. Athletes exit via a ladder and run about 300 meters along the dock to transition. Water temperatures are typically expected in the mid 70s and official readings are taken by USAT officials on race morning.
The bike courses travel mostly flat, well paved roads with wide shoulders through open cropland. The Olympic bike includes a small hill on Earl Nicholson Road around mile 13. Both bike routes have few turns. The run courses are flat and route athletes through Rock Hall neighborhoods with aid stations approximately every mile.
Event categories include Overall, Masters Overall, Age Group, Aquabike, Military, Clydesdale, Athena and Relay Teams. The festival is sanctioned by USA Triathlon. Packet pickup requires photo ID and participants must collect their own materials. A complimentary youth and junior pre race clinic is offered by TRI Game Sports.
