Roc 6.19/Juneteenth 5K Run/Walk
The Roc 6.19 event in Rochester, New York, marks its 10th anniversary in 2026. This gathering commemorates Juneteenth, the celebration of the end of slavery in the United States. The live event is held at Genesee Valley Park, specifically at the Riverbend Shelter along the Genesee River.
Participants can choose from the following event options:
- 5 km Run/Walk (Live)
- 5 km Run/Walk (Virtual)
- 19 km Run/Walk (Virtual Challenge)
- 19 mile Run/Walk (Virtual Challenge)
The live 5 km course is a USATF certified route (#NY14904KL) consisting of winding asphalt roads through the park. Registrants for the live race receive a commemorative pint mug. The event also features community vendors, food for purchase, and a raffle for gift baskets. Following the run, a jazz concert takes place at the Roundhouse Shelter.
The virtual options allow participants to complete their chosen distance at any location and time between their registration date and June 19, 2026. Activities such as swimming, cycling, or hiking can also be chosen for the virtual celebration.
Funds raised from the event support the construction of the Minister Franklin D. Florence Civil Rights Heritage Park at Baden Park in Rochester. Professional electronic RFID timing is provided for the live race, and all participants receive a digital commemorative poster via email.
