The Roanoke Valley Weighted Race is a timed endurance event in Roanoke, Virginia, held on April 11, 2026. The course is a 2.5 mile out and back along the Roanoke Greenway, running from River's Edge North to Piedmont Park. The event base and parking are at River's Edge North Park, 302 Wiley Drive SW.
Participants choose how much weight to carry at the start of each lap. The carried weight is multiplied by the lap distance to produce a score in pound miles, called Kz. For example, carrying 10 pounds for one lap yields 25 Kz for that lap. Competitors may keep the same weight for successive laps or change the weight between laps. Entrants may complete as many laps as they wish, provided they finish their final lap before the event time expires.
The event includes overall awards, age group awards, and recognitions for reaching individual Kz milestones. Equipment used for carrying weight may include rucksacks, weighted vests, sandbags, or other containers, provided the item can be weighed. Registration closes on Friday, April 10 at 11:59 PM ET.
