Roach Valley Way Charity Relay
The Roach Valley Way Relay is a stage trail run that follows written route descriptions, maps, and existing footpath way markers along the Roach Valley Way long distance footpath. The course covers 23 miles in total and is divided into four legs, with one runner per leg.
Each stage is treated as a standalone trail run with its own start time and marshal coordinators. Runners must navigate using the provided route maps and descriptions and follow the Roach Valley signage; additional event signage will supplement existing way markers. There are minimal marshals on the route, so responsibility for navigation rests with the runners. Roving marshals attend road crossings and place "Caution Runner" signs where required.
Stage marshal teams log teams at each leg start, provide roving marshals as needed, time each leg and record finish positions, and confirm all teams before closing a leg. Stage marshals remain in contact with the overall event coordinator to coordinate responses to any incidents.
Scoring awards points by finishing position on each leg (1 point for first, 2 points for second, and so on); the team with the lowest total score across four legs wins, with fastest overall time as the tie-breaker. The event holds an England Athletics Race Licence #30843 and all proceeds are donated to Havens Hospices (Registered Charity Number 1022119).
