Rivershack River Run/Walk Series
The Rivershack River Run/Walk Series consists of two evening race events at RiverShack locations in the New Orleans area, scheduled for May 29, 2026 and June 6, 2026. The two race sites are RiverShack Tavern on River Road (Jefferson) and RiverShack Gretna along the levee jogging path in Gretna. Races are chip timed and each participant receives a bib with a built-in timing chip; bibs should be worn on the front of the body for accurate results.
Distances and event types:
- 2 Mile Series for both races
- 2 Mile Run/Walk Eastbank only
- 2 Mile Run/Walk Gretna only
- Beer Mile East
- Beer Mile West
Entry options include single-race and series registrations. The Beer Mile entries include beer and a chip-timed bib and require participants to be 21 years of age or older. Beer Mile rules state participants consume a 12 oz beer then run 1/4 mile, repeating four times for a total of one mile and four beers; a penalty lap is added if a participant vomits during the event.
Swag and awards: single-race registrants receive a custom event t-shirt; series registrants receive the t-shirt plus a custom finisher medal for completing both events. To guarantee preferred t-shirt size, register by May 22, 2026. Awards are presented to overall male and female winners and to first place male and female in each age group: 0-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, and 80 plus. Packet pickup is scheduled for Wednesday, May 27 at 4153 Canal St, New Orleans, with additional pickup available on race day.
Post-race food is provided by RiverShack Tavern and additional refreshments come from event sponsors. Proceeds from the Beer Mile benefit Ainsley’s Angels of Greater New Orleans. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
