Rivershack River Run/Walk Series
The Rivershack River Run/Walk Series comprises two separate race events at RiverShack locations in the New Orleans area. The events are scheduled for May 29, 2026 at RiverShack Tavern on River Road (Jefferson) and June 6, 2026 at RiverShack Gretna on the levee jogging path in Gretna. Each race offers chip timing with a bib that must be worn on the front of the body for accurate results.
Distance options include:
- 2 mile run/walk at each location
- 1 mile Beer Mile (one mile out and back with beer consumption)
The Beer Mile requires participants to be 21 years of age and includes four cycles of drinking a 12 oz beer and running a quarter mile; a vomiting penalty adds one quarter mile. Proceeds from the Beer Mile benefit Ainsley’s Angels of Greater New Orleans.
Registrants for a single race receive a custom event t-shirt. Registrants who complete both races in the series receive the t-shirt plus a custom finisher medal. To guarantee preferred t-shirt size, register by May 22, 2026. Packet pickup is available on May 27 and there is additional pickup on race day.
Awards are given to overall male and female winners and to top male and female finishers in age groups 0–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59, 60–69, 70–79, and 80+. Post race food is provided by RiverShack Tavern and additional refreshments are supplied by event sponsors. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
