Rivershack River Run/Walk Series

The Rivershack River Run/Walk Series consists of two distinct events located in the New Orleans area. Participants have the option to register for individual races or the complete series. Both events are chip-timed, with timing chips integrated into the athlete bibs.

The first event, the Eastbank race, takes place at Rivershack Tavern on River Road in Jefferson, Louisiana. This evening event includes live music. The second event, the Westbank race, is held at Rivershack Gretna. This course utilizes the levee jogging path for a flat running surface.

Available distances and event formats include:

  • 2 Mile Run/Walk (Eastbank and Westbank locations)
  • Beer Mile (One mile out-and-back course with 12 oz refreshments every quarter mile; restricted to participants aged 21 and over)
  • Ainsley's Angels Chariot Division (Inclusive racing category)

Participants who register for a single race receive a custom event t-shirt. Those who complete the full series receive both the t-shirt and a finisher medal. Post-race festivities at both locations feature food provided by the host tavern along with refreshments such as water, snacks, and beer.

Awards are presented at each race for the top overall male and female finishers. Recognition is also given to the first-place male and female finishers in age groups ranging from 0-29 to 80+. Proceeds from the Beer Mile specifically benefit Ainsley’s Angels of Greater New Orleans to support mobility for individuals with disabilities.
